Invite Joseph to Speak

Book talks, lectures, and appearances for Italian-American organizations, universities, cultural institutions, and community groups.

Introduction

Joseph Sturiale is available to speak to groups interested in Sicilian history, heritage, and identity. With 25 years of research behind him and a newly-published comprehensive history, he brings both scholarly depth and personal passion to every appearance. He speaks regularly to Italian-American organizations, university audiences, book clubs, and cultural institutions.

AVAILABLE TOPICS

The Real History of Sicily

An overview of 3,000 years of Sicilian history — the material the book covers, condensed into a 45–60 minute presentation with visuals and Q&A. Perfect for Italian-American organizations, heritage societies, and general audiences.

The Normans in Sicily

A deep dive on Sicily’s medieval golden age. The culture of the Norman kingdom, the Palatine Chapel, Monreale Cathedral, and why this era matters today.

The Great Sicilian Migration

The story of the 1880–1920 emigration that created Sicilian-America. Conditions that drove emigration, routes of migration, early Sicilian-American communities. Essential for audiences tracing their family’s journey.

Beyond The Godfather

A direct confrontation with the stereotypes that have dominated the Sicilian narrative. What the Mafia really is, where it came from, why it has obscured the real story of Sicilian people, and how Sicilians — especially the anti-Mafia generation of Falcone and Borsellino — have fought back.

Custom Topics

Joseph can prepare custom presentations on any aspect of Sicilian history covered in the book. Audiences with particular interests — a specific era, a specific region, or genealogy methodology — are welcome to request tailored content.
